Born on May 13 1956, in Papanasam (TamilNadu, India), His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar was often found rapt in meditation as a little boy. By the time He was four, He was already reciting the Bhagavad Gita and other scriptures. As a young boy , he would often tell his friends, " people all over the world are waiting for me ". By age 17, he had completed his education both Vedic literature and modern science. In 1982, His Holines Ravi Shankar begin teaching sudarshan Kriya, a powerful, yet simple breathing technique that eliminates stress and bring one into the present moment completely. this is the taught around the world as a part of the living program, benefiting and healing numerous people in various ways.

In 1997, Sri Sri founded the International Association for Human Values, a humanitarian nonprofit organization that advances human values in political, economic, industrial, and social spheres.
